Theme Lab: Role reversal, various turns & connections
On 23 March, as every fourth Sunday, Karen van der Stappen is organising Crossroads @ Scala. This ‘intersection’ of Salon and knowledge exchange provides 6 hours of dance fun and you can join in the communal food. You bring your own food or choose to order your snack or pizza. Sunday 23 March we start at 2pm with the lab this time themed “Role reversal, various turns & connections”. Together with Karen, we will start with a warm-up after which a number of exercises such as:
- combo taichi and tango techniques
- balance and turning
- technique various ways of turning
- giro linear & circular moves and turns
- decorations
Furthermore, we will pay attention to the following tango techniques :
- as always focus on roll change and 4 moments lead/follow/pizza point
- who revolves around whom
- turning in triangle/open embrace
- turning in close embrace
- giro in waltz and milonga
- soltado variant 3
We will practise all this while dancing to music from a carefully compiled playlist. At 4pm, DJ Jean Pierre will play at least four more hours of beautiful dance music for us, traditional tango music interspersed with neo and ‘non’ tango.
